Week 4: Web Creditability – Activity


Presumed creditability is based on general assumptions in the viewers own mind. These websites usually end in a “.org”. For example, The World Wildlife Fund website.

Reputed creditability is based on third-party endorsements, referrals or reports. These are sites which have won awards for their content. For example, The Escapist Magazine webpage.

Surface creditability is generally based on first impression. These are sites that are made and look professionally designed. For example, Bank West’s website.

Earned creditability is based mostly on first-hand experience and viewing over time. This is a site that consistently provides accurate information over an extended amount of time. For example, Google.
